Changed by Design

In 2009 the book Change By Design stunned the design world with its argument that the methods used by designers to create innovative products could be applied to companies, organizations and even governments. Ten years later—by some measures the most disruptive decade in human history—we find that leaders are indeed learning to think like designers, and designers to think like leaders.

Evidence of these changes is found everywhere. Designers who only recently worried about kitchen gadgets and office furniture are now tackling problems at the scale of pediatric obesity, refugee education, female reproductive health in West Africa and urban violence in the U.S. Conversely, “design thinking” shows up in boardrooms, foundations and academic institutions around the world.

Join us as Tim Brown (IDEO) and Barry Katz (CCA) explore the critical role of design in an era of continuous disruption and unprecedented technological change.
